We're studying for the bar and we don't hate each other. That's a good sign, right?
Chris and I have made it through 1/2 of what it takes to be an attorney: getting that JD. After four long years of evening school--on top of working full-time--we crossed the stage, graduating with honors, and we even won a few awards while we were at it.
In addition to the excitement of graduation itself, we were lucky enough to have a wonderful graduation party, thrown by our parents, that involved a ton of food, drinks, and opportunity to see many of our beloved friends and family (many of whom we really haven't seen much since beginning law school).
But, as with everything, all good things come to an end. We had such a wonderful graduation weekend that we were sad when Barbri (bar prep) began the following Tuesday. All of a sudden we were thrust into the world of studying (yet again), but this time for the biggest prize: getting licensed to practice law in the state of Ohio. For those of you not familiar with the process to becoming a lawyer... first you go to law school, then you have to pass a bar exam in a U.S. state, and only then you can call yourself a licensed attorney and practice law.
Right now Chris and I are feeling the pressure; our careers are quite literally riding on our performance on this test. However, we are trying to stay positive, remain focused, and master the subject matter the best we can.
We are lucky enough to be surrounded by family, friends, and co-workers who have been supportive of us and our need to decline events in order to study. We have also been pushing each other to remain diligent, however, we know when to keep our space. Chris and I always have studied very differently, and we've learned throughout law school how to tell when the other person is stressed and needs to work through it, as well as when the other person is stressed and needs a little moral support.
So, in order to keep this short, sweet, and get back to my study outline, I will leave you with the motivation that keep Chris and I going: "Munich, Germany, August 11th - 25th."
After that, perhaps we'll plan for our wedding.
